When will she be right? In 99.5 years, apparently. That’s how long UN Women Australia forecasts global gender equality to be reached. A whole century! This International Women’s Day @UNWomenAust invited me to create an artwork bringing attention to this divide - it’s time Aussies kick our ‘she’ll be right’ attitude. We want to reduce that absurd figure to 10 years at most. Being forced to marry your rapist, female genital mutilation, underage marriage, prevalence of unequal pay for same work and qualifications, & little repercussion for domestic and sexual violence are fraught and concealed throughout the developed and developed world. These injustices occur silently right here in Australia. The system still fails half the population. We must do better.
